This itinerary is designed to give you a spectacular blend of coastal and inland wildlife viewing. You’ll experience a one-of-a-kind safari in Saadani and then head inland to the vast plains of Mikumi.

 

Day 1: Dar to Saadani National Park

 

• Morning: Your Vian Tours and Travel guide will pick you up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam. You’ll begin the scenic drive north to Saadani National Park, Tanzania’s only coastal wildlife sanctuary. The journey takes approximately 4-5 hours.
• Afternoon: After a picnic lunch upon arrival, you will embark on a game drive. The park offers a unique opportunity to see animals like giraffes, wildebeest, and elephants grazing on the beach with the Indian Ocean as a backdrop.
• Evening: As the sun sets, you’ll transfer to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Saadani and Transfer to Mikumi National Park

• Afternoon: After the boat trip, you’ll have a final short game drive and then begin the drive to Mikumi National Park (approximately 6 hours). The long journey is a beautiful one, offering a glimpse into the diverse landscapes of Tanzania’s interior.
• Evening: Arrive at your lodge on the outskirts of Mikumi National Park, check-in, and relax with a well-deserved dinner.

• Afternoon: You’ll have a picnic lunch inside the park, surrounded by the incredible sights and sounds of the bush. The afternoon game drive will focus on areas near the Mkata River, which is a prime spot for seeing lions and other predators.
• Evening: You’ll return to your lodge just as the sun sets, with enough time to relax before dinner.
