Morning Departure and Arrival

Your professional safari guide will meet you and conduct a brief check and introduction before setting off. The drive to Tarangire National Park is a substantial journey, usually taking between 2.5 to 4 hours, depending on your starting location. This early departure is essential to maximize your time inside the park, which is the main goal of a day trip. You will arrive at the main park gate around 9:00 AM, where your guide will swiftly handle the registration and necessary formalities, allowing your adventure to begin without delay.

Morning Game Drive: The Tarangire River

The moment you enter the park, your morning game drive commences. This initial phase, lasting until around 1:00 PM, is focused on the lifeblood of the park: the Tarangire River and its surrounding areas. This river attracts immense concentrations of wildlife, making it the perfect spot to witness the park’s signature spectacle—the enormous herds of African bush elephants feeding and socializing beneath the iconic, towering baobab trees. Your guide will navigate the riverbanks, looking for varied plains game such as zebras and wildebeest, which often graze near the water source, always keeping an eye out for potential predator activity.

Picnic Lunch and Afternoon Exploration

Around 1:00 PM, your guide will drive to a designated, safe picnic area inside the park, such as Matete. Here, you will take a relaxing break and enjoy your packed picnic lunch while soaking in the sights and sounds of the African bush. After lunch, the afternoon game drive resumes, typically running from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. This part of the day involves exploring different habitats, including the vast open grasslands and swampier areas of the park. This period offers a renewed chance to spot various antelope species, including the graceful fringe-eared oryx and the greater kudu, as well as predators like lions and cheetahs that may be resting or starting to become active.

Departure and Return

At approximately 4:00 PM, your guide will begin the drive toward the main park gate. This final stretch of the drive often yields last-minute sightings. Once formalities are complete at the gate, you will embark on the return road transfer to Arusha or Moshi. You can expect to arrive back at your drop-off location between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM, marking the conclusion of a full and exhilarating day trip.

Park Fees and Taxes: This covers all necessary statutory Tarangire National Park entrance fees for both the traveler and the vehicle, along with all mandatory government taxes, fees, and levies.
Transportation: Included is the use of a private, customized 4x4 safari vehicle (such as a Land Cruiser or Land Rover) equipped with a pop-up roof for superior game viewing and photography, along with all fuel costs.
Guiding Services: The services of a professional, licensed, English-speaking Driver-Guide are included. Your guide is highly experienced in wildlife spotting and navigation within the park.

Price excludes

Gratuities (Tipping): Tips for your safari driver/guide are customary in the Tanzanian safari industry and are entirely at the discretion of the client.
Accommodation: Any hotel accommodation required before or after the day trip in Arusha or Moshi is not included.
Personal Expenses and Beverages: Costs for alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, juices, souvenirs, laundry, or any personal expenditures fall outside the package cost.
Travel Documents and Insurance: This excludes international or domestic flight costs, visa fees, and comprehensive personal travel and medical insurance.
