8-Day Safari and Zanzibar

This itinerary is designed to maximize your time in both the wild and on the beach. It includes a 4-day safari covering the core highlights of the Northern Circuit, followed by 4 days of relaxation and exploration in Zanzibar.

 

Part 1: The Northern Circuit Safari (4 Days)

 

This safari focuses on the most iconic parks—Tarangire, the Serengeti, and the Ngorongoro Crater—to give you a comprehensive wildlife experience in a condensed timeframe.

Day 1: Arrival & Tarangire National Park

 

• Morning: Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), a Vian Tour and Travel representative will greet you. You’ll receive a short briefing before beginning the scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, famous for its enormous baobab trees and large elephant herds.
• Afternoon: Arrive at the park gate and embark on your first game drive. You’ll spend the afternoon exploring the park, following the Tarangire River, a vital water source that attracts a huge concentration of wildlife.
• Evening: Drive to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Tarangire to the Serengeti National Park

 

• Morning: After an early breakfast, you’ll depart for the world-famous Serengeti National Park. The journey offers breathtaking views as you drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
• Afternoon: Arrive at the Serengeti gate and begin your game drive en route to your camp in the central Serengeti (Seronera region). This area is renowned for its year-round concentration of predators.
• Evening: Settle in, have dinner, and listen to the incredible sounds of the African bush.

Day 3: Full Day Serengeti Exploration

 

• Morning: You have a full day dedicated to exploring the vast Serengeti plains. Your guide will take you on a sunrise game drive—the best time to see predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs in action.
• Afternoon: Return to your camp for a hot lunch and a short break before heading out for another game drive in a different part of the park. Your guide will customize the route based on wildlife movements and seasonal patterns.
• Evening: Enjoy a beautiful Serengeti sunset, a final game drive, and a delicious dinner.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Tour & Flight to Zanzibar

 

• Morning: After an early breakfast, you’ll descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day of game viewing. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is an incredible natural wonder, offering one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa, including the endangered black rhino. You’ll also see lions, elephants, and hippos.
• Afternoon: Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor. Afterward, you’ll ascend out of the crater and begin the drive back to Arusha. From there, you’ll be transferred to Arusha Airport (ARK) for your domestic flight to Zanzibar (ZNZ).
• Evening: Upon arrival at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, a Vian Tour and Travel representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Stone Town. You’ll have the evening free to rest or explore the historic city.

Part 2: Zanzibar Beach Relaxation (4 Days)

 

This part of the trip is completely flexible. You can choose to relax on the beach, or you can explore the island through various excursions.

Day 5: Stone Town Exploration & Transfer to the Beach

 

• Morning: After breakfast, you’ll embark on a guided tour of Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll wander through its narrow, winding streets, visit historical sites like the Old Fort and the House of Wonders, and explore the vibrant markets.
• Afternoon: After the tour, you’ll be transferred to a beach resort on the east or north coast of Zanzibar (e.g., Nungwi or Paje).
• Evening: Settle into your beach resort, have dinner, and enjoy the serene sounds of the Indian Ocean.

Day 6 & 7: Zanzibar Activities & Relaxation

 

• Full Days: You have two full days to enjoy the idyllic beaches and warm waters of the Indian Ocean. You can relax on the white sands, swim, or partake in a variety of optional activities.
• Optional Activities:
  • Spice Tour: Visit a local plantation to learn about the island’s history as a spice hub and sample fresh spices and fruits.
  • Snorkeling or Diving: Explore the vibrant coral reefs at Mnemba Atoll, home to a stunning array of marine life.
  • Prison Island Tour: Take a short boat ride to Prison Island to see the giant Aldabra tortoises.
  • Dhow Sunset Cruise: Enjoy a traditional dhow boat cruise as the sun sets over the ocean.
